Meet Pepper and Jake, young shepherds who live in the valley. Who and what is the problem? Irk, the giant, lives up on top of a mountain. When it is wash day Irk empties his washtub down the mountain which results in a flood for poor Pepper, Jake and their sheep. Enough is enough! Time to go speak with Irk.Irk makes a deal with the children. If they can solve the riddle in three days he will move away. If they can't he'll eat them! Will the children succeed in solving the riddle? How about your children?Although this is a fun story, the ending is a little abrupt/strange making me feel as if there should be another page. Well written though and delightfully illustrated.Opening in landscape mode this book is readable on a Kindle Paperwhite HOWEVER it would be much better on a larger screen or in the actual paperback. I purchased this book at full price. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
What a cute story! My 2nd grade son really likes this book. It's perfect for his reading level and is 48 pages long with short paragraphs so it takes him roughly 15min to finish. I like that it gets him interested in reading.
This is a level 3 reader but it seems a little easier. My son really loves giants so this is a great quick read for him. I do think it could have had a little more to the story but my kiddo doesn't mind.
Cute book. My 6 year old and I both liked it. I like that the children in the story were problem solvers. I like that they worked together. I like that they faced a fearful situation to improve their quality of life.
I liked the little kids and the sheep. I didn't like Urk.it was a fun story. - Bobby, age 7
I love these series. But most important that my son does. I got 40+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.
My grandson loves it and that's what matters to me.
My first grade grandson loves all these books.
