About the Author
“Buck,†as he is known on the air, was first licensed in the mid-sixties as a young teenager. Today, he holds an Amateur Extra Class Radio License. Buck stands on the ARRL Honor Roll with 336 entities out of 340 confirmed and has earned the 8 Band DXCC award. He is also an active instructor and a Volunteer Examiner. He’s been named Elmer (Trainer) of the Year by the Rappahannock Valley Amateur Radio Club three times. I basically enjoyed DX- the Easy Way and did find a few new tidbits which I was not aware of ( I have been licensed for over 50 year). I do take issue with the statement concerning software: “Sorry Mac users, this is a PC worldâ€While there may be a larger quantity of software available for the PC, there is no shortage of quality Mac software for ham radio. These range from logging programs such as MacLogger DX by DogPark Software and RumlogNG by DL2RUM, which would both give any of the PC logging programs a run for their money, to MacDoppler for Satellite work and dogparkSDR for control of Flex Radios, and DX Toolbox by Black Hat systems for propagation forecasting .In addition there are many programs such as FLDigi, WSPR, and WSJT-X which have Macintosh versions available.These are just some of the programs that I am familiar with, there are many, many others available that I have heard of, but not used.About the only area that I have found lacking is native support for RemoteHams, but even here, the software is easily used with either CrossOver or programs such as Parallels.
Outstanding reference and guide book! Lots of great tips and very clear on the etiquette of making those lovely long distance contacts. Lots of information and links on computer programs for the DXer. I have this book in my shack right now as a handy reference. If you love DX, and are tired of the conditions on today's Amateur bands, you need this book!
I bought this book even though I used to a lot of DX. This is engagingly written from a hands on, personal experience perspective. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into DXing.

The most comprehensive and informative book on this topic that I have read in my 50+ years as a licensed ham radio operator. Items are presented in a low key, pleasant read manner. Buck continues to show his diverse subject matter expertise with this new publication. Recommended reading for the new as well as seasoned operator.
