I have read all the vampire boss I can find and usually the female lead is too girly, says stupid things, and the writing is corny. But this series is AMAZING!!!! I mean, the heroine has her dumb moments but God does it get made up for by the amazing writing. I am in LOVE with Dominic. Let me tell you, you won't be able to put these books down! I am counting down the days to get book four.... literally!Pros:Attractive lead characters (Dominic! LOL)Great writingGreat story line that leaves you on the edgeI have both cried and laughed reading theseCons: Only two (which is always the same for me)The lead *good* guy is too bossy in a jealous boyfriend kind of way.. She's an adult, he's not her father, jeez.And the heroine says some silly things in serious situations that I have a hard time setting as something anyone would realistically say at that moment, or any moment sometimes. Lol but those are just pet peeves of mine.This series, every book is a 10 out of 10, and that is RARE. Especially coming from me. It's been years since I read a vampire novel that I really fell into the world and feel in love with the characters. Not since I found the Anita Blake serious about 10 years ago. And these are far more attractive to me, I mean really, you can't beat Dominic! Just the right amount of dark, dominant, and sweet. I love it! <3 can't wait for 4!!!!!!
I loved books 1 and 2 of this series. I will tell you why I didn't finish this book and here come the spoilers. The heroine is imprisoned by Engel for at least the first third of the book (which is where I stopped and every time I decided to give it another chance, I'd stop again annoyed).I also was disappointed that somehow she decided to form a blood bond with Dominic to avoid bonding with Engel. What upsets me about that is that she is supposed to be with Trace. Where the hell is Trace in this book - he's nowhere to be found in the first third.The writing cliche that bothered me the most is that Dominic always calls Jemma "Angel". Always. It seems contrived and inauthentic.I gave this two stars because overall the author writes well. Otherwise it would have been 1 star. I wish I could return it. Save your time and money.
Refreshing new series I got only this last week since I do not like series, unless the books are stand alone or they are finished and available all at once. So I tried the first one and looking the three book series advertisement I thought ok, this is it the saga is done. I went on to buy books two and three and I threw myself from a cliff! One cliffhanger after another, a challenge for my Mediterranean temper... All in all I liked the story, although it started diluting on the third book. The heroes are your typical teenagers that pretend maturity and act like kids. The writer sometimes forgets all the magic things the heroes can do to get out of an ugly situation, and some of them are having the weight of a hologram in the story and not of a real person. The Alt moments of the heroes sometimes are confusing since the outcome differs and the story feels like developing as you go kind of thing. However I liked the action parts and I can imagine a movie out of it but not three. I hope we will have another Stephanie Meyers kind of author and not a Bella Forest.Also the last book comes out Dec 17, 2017, so if you are like me you can buy them all together then, or gift them as a Christmas present... No cupcakes were received to compensate this review, and yes I read all three books in three days so I can steam and boil until the last one 👿
I love the storyline and pretty much everything it encompasses. Except Dominic.I honestly wouldn't have an issue with him if he didn't speak like he was a 400 year old vampire, donning outdated words and phrases like they were once second nature to him. It reminded me WAY too much of Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. He could be a fantastic character in his own right, but it's already way too close with two camp brothers- one good and one bad but redeemable because of one girl. I can see the differences, yes, but there are a lot of similarities. In the end, Dominic acts as though he's been a vamp for centuries instead of less than a decade. It throws me off in the story because Trace looks like Damon while Dominic acts like him.I'll continue reading since, like I said, the story itself is really good. The characters just throw me.
I was just browsing at work for something to read to pass the time and came across this gem. I was immediately hooked reading the first book in the series and now I can't wait to read the last book! I love the characters and tension between them all. Trace and Jemma's love for each other makes my heart weep and I'm anxious to know how it will all turn out in the fourth book. I never usually bother with reviews, but this book series is worth recommending to others who love a good supernatural romance.
