I want to start off by saying that the book is very easy to read, moderately well-organized, and simple for beginners. The photos are nice and the cover has a great matte texture.Having said that, the cover shows a bunch of potted house succulents, but the content doesn't exactly match. If you watch the video I've uploaded to this review, you'll see that the VAST majority of this book is dedicated specifically to cacti, and cacti are great, don't get me wrong, but I was hoping the emphasis was going to be placed on other, softer succulents like echeveria. The cactus pages provide excellent info, like where they grow naturally, what sort of shade/light they need, ideal greenhouse conditions, habitats where they are most hardy, common names, etc. But the non-cactus succulents (what most people think of as just 'succulents') are given far less attention. You'll get a picture of a few succulents in the wild (which often makes it hard to identify when comparing to a nursery-purchased plant) and some info on where it is grown. Don't get me wrong, this book is ok, especially for people who love spotting cacti in the wild and learning a little bit about them, but for most people looking to learn about house plants, I think the price you're charged for this little book (and it is little, see uploaded photo to compare the thickness of the book with my small ladies finger) is a little outrageous considering how very little content you receive, especially if you buy it thinking the cover represent the content accurately.I don't want to bash it because it looks like it was a labor or love for someone to put this together. I just don't think it is worth the cost, and after considering the lack of info on succulents... it just isn't for me.
Great info on cacti. The cover makes you think it will have succulent info. Maybe 2% of book does. Great info on cacti! But didn't need.
