Randall is a small black man, a werewolf and now alpha of an established and powerful pack. He is also a dog trainer and in a settled relationship with Ellis. Ellis is a blind white man, a vampire, and owner of an art gallery. So with this third book Randall and Ellis are still together, but not without some hiccups. As all relationships theirs has growth and change. Ellis knows Randall is it for him, admits his love as does Randall. On that front everything is sunshine and roses. Now that Randall is pack alpha he has some decisions ahead. Not just the logistics of living so far from them. . . But whether they'll follow a gay leader.. . Let alone a pack alpha with a vampire mate. They're also religious differences and as we all know most religious followers are prejudice towards gays. So yes, interesting plot twists brought in, not really pursued, but enough there to know Randall has some hard decisions ahead. And that alpha female! Oh I sense trouble ahead!Tested and being tested. Amelia Faulkner does an excellent job portraying every aspect. These two men are wonderful together and apart. And now we get more on Jay and Han. Did anyone else think of Randall stepping up for Han? But I guess that wouldn't have worked. . . .Just as Randall is having issues, so is Ellis. He's reaching outside his structured lifestyle after being limited by his blindness and vampire law. Ellis is practically a newborn as a vampire -- To date most is learned by trial and error. He never had a mentor. So when a friend steps up to answer questions he realizes things must change. And with this story he can now make those changes. So far Randall and Ellis have grow individually and together. Now they're at a crossroads. It'll be interesting to see if their responsibilities to their species will conflict with their relationship. How much will they sacrifice to keep their love going. Can't wait for the next book. - Dan's Wife

Several, mainly vampire-related, things come to a head here: Han has a life-threatening heart problem and a desperate Jay suggests a "solution" the Council would punish with execution if discovered, Edison arrives determined to finally get results re. Ellis' large debt to their father, Hughes confronts Ellis with his unallayed suspicions re. Jonas' death, Charles Devitt steps up his efforts to get rid of Ellis for good, ... I don't want to get spoiler-y by saying how all those plots tangle and turn out, but I'll say this was an emotional and exciting installment. One minor comment: although I didn't bother to mention it in my review of either of the first two books, it's getting increasingly annoying, in a generally well-proofread book (only a couple *other* typos in the whole thing, no worse than pro-printed works), to have every dropped aitch, etc., written with an opening single quote (6-shaped) instead of a proper apostrophe (9-shaped) -- auto-formatting makes the wrong assumption after a space. Plus occasionally it jumps confusingly to a new scene with no extra space to indicate a break -- again, something which has been true through the whole series.Anyway, on to the next! Let's see what happens, now that the system has had a major shakeup.

4.25 ⭐️This one is the best so far. There were a number of times I wondered how the boys would get out of this. This one really kept my attention and it felt like a lot happened and was achieved.I love Ellis and how he is still struggling with his blindness. It makes him so relatable because he is not perfect. He uses whatever he can to protect himself, and it is not smooth and flawless. It makes an interesting read.Looking forward to the next one

This book, and the whole series, has kept me up in the middle of the night, has made me put off working, has had me shushing my kids when they tried to get my attention. OMG. It is like some sort of drug that I can't get away from and NEVER WANT TO. I loved this third book. I can't even decide if it was actually better than the first two, which I also adored to a possibly ridiculous level, or if it's just that... it's such a well told story, with a-freaking-mazing characters and the whole WORLD is so well thought out and presented seamlessly... and OMG.. the end of this book! AArrrggghh! Too much adrenaline but so freaking happy with what happened! I'm not one for spoilers, but ... YESSSSSSSSSSS!

I really loved reading this book. I enjoy reading this wonderful series so far. I have read books one, two, and this one too. I can't wait until the next book comes out. I love the relationship between Ellis and Randall and I also love the relationship between Han and Jay. I love all the characters in these books they are very interesting characters. I love the twists and turns and the edge of the seat action in these books. I will recommend this book and series to everybody I know and to all my friends too.

An intriguing look into the fantastic world of werewolves and vampires (and I can't believe I just wrote that because generally I'm not going to read anything with vampires in it). The story moved along at an even pace, not sacrificing character development for plot movement. The author created a plausible world wherein those characters behaved in a realistic manner. A fun read! And yes, I read all three books in the series and suggest anyone who wants to get lost in the menagerie of thought and fantasy read these books.

The third book of the series, it raised more questions than answer, but I was still satisfied with the ending. If you've enjoyed Blind's Man Wolf and Blood Moon Rising, you'll not be disappointed with Balance of Power as well. My single lament is that there seems to be a few missing ends here and there, but I'm inclined to believe/hope that maybe this will simply lead to another book in this series... Overall I thought it was well-paced though, and the book included suspense in almost every page. An exciting series with an interesting interspecies romance, what's not to love!?
